Welcome to 2015 AIFL!!!

Happy New Year AIFL!!

With the new year and new quarter starting up I wanted to take a moment and talk about how to best prepare yourself for your creative career and what we having coming up right now for Winter Quarter!

First off, if you are ready to do your internship and you want to do it this quarter the time to get registered is NOW! You only have until the last day of drop add (January 19th) to get in to the class!

Second, the first job fair of 2015 is right around the corner! The job fair for all students will be on Thursday, January 22nd from 11am-1pm in the main building lobby. The culinary job fair will be on Tuesday, January 27th from 11:30am to 1:30pm.

Here's what I want you to know about the job fairs, the companies that are coming have openings. They are looking to hire people. This is your first impression and you want it to be a positive one right? I know you said yes, which is why I am going to tell you how to make sure you do just that!

Step 1: Have multiple copies of your resume (please see me for resume review!)
Step 2: Introduce yourself
Step 3: Be enthusiastic
Step 4: Don't walk up to their tables with food or drink, have your hands free.
Step 5: Apply immediately (whether it is a paper application or online), do not be discouraged if you need to complete an online application. Many companies are required to have applicants complete online applications. One of the great things about meeting with the employers at the job fair is you can get their contact information and follow up on your application- they also keep track of the sign in sheet and write down candidates they were really interested in.

Keep your eyes open for the workshop announcements! Don't forget that the workshops are free! Take advantage and do as many as you can and expand your skills!

Let's make sure that 2015 is the most amazing year for you! If you need help looking for a position, help with your resume, internship questions, or career related guidance come in and see me, call me, or e-mail me!

See you soon,
