Student Services Assistant, The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale

Position Summary:

·      Viewed as student leader

·      Acts as a resource to students providing them with information and support.

·      Assists Student Services staff with programs and events



Key Job Elements

  • Assists and greet students; answers phones at front desk
  • Schedules appointments for students
  • Organize and maintain front desk and Student Services resource area
  • Perform general clerical, administrative tasks as required
  • Assists the Student Services team
  • Assists in generation of job leads for students and graduates
  • Prepare materials (including flyers) for events and activities
  • Participate in Orientation and graduation events







Reports to and Supervised by:

Director of Student Services



Related Job Functions:

Use of computers for administrative tasks (including word processing and Internet applications) to assist with data entry.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • An understanding of privacy and confidentiality of student records.
  • Ability to work with diverse constituencies, individually and as a group.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Minimum Qualifications



Must be an eligible work study student at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and have experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Package software.



Evaluation:

·      Student evaluations are reviewed on a quarterly basis. The job performance is reviewed along with taking into consideration feedback from students.



Other Ergonomic Requirements:

Position may require lifting up to 35 pounds unassisted, sitting, standing for several hours at a time during work shift, stooping, crouching and bending, and other similar functions while performing essential and marginal job functions.  All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without a significant risk of injury, with or without accommodation, or to otherwise demonstrate or explain how they can perform the functions listed above.
